Welcome to this year’s final installment, focusing on recognizing the accomplishments of two of my esteemed writing colleagues, and, if I am allowed, even myself.

Media Update
'Music Matters' with Jason Tramm

My ‘debut’ interview with conductor Jason Tramm on ‘Music Matters’ on YouTube on Dec. 17 (which happened to be Beethoven’s Baptismal Day) was a great experience. Jason is a wonderful interviewer and knowledgeable musician. The link is accessible for watching anytime at:

Women Writers, Women’s Books

In case you missed my ‘character interview’ for Women Writers, Women’s Books, in which I interview the protagonist of Staged for Murder, enjoy that read here: http://booksbywomen.org/character-interview-erica-miner/

From a colleague

Do check out Patricia Daly-Lipe’s PATRIOT PRIEST: A Personal Perspective of History from WWI, WWII to the Vatican. “The longer you can look back, the further you can look forward”, said (Winston Churchill) Read the book and get a personal perspective on history. Former Met Opera colleague turned writer!

Former Met Opera colleague and flutist Mary Ann Archer has just released Zeesha’s Tale in time for the holidays. The book offers a delightful view of the Christmas [and Easter] story through the eyes of a donkey, who learns from his wise mother to trust in God in good times and bad. The author says, ‘A story came to me one day that tied together three Biblical donkeys and two strands of spirituality I’ve come to treasure – Celtic imagination, where donkeys can talk and angels are visible – and a child’s version of the Ignatian First Principal and Foundation, where each creature’s unique character is truly God’s glory.'

Mozart and Da Ponte

Author Howard Jay Smith has released his historical novel Meeting Mozart, from the Secret Diaries of Lorenzo Da Ponte. An entertaining tale inspired by Mozart and his operas, aimed especially toward Mozart lovers, the book has been hailed as ‘the musical equivalent of The Da Vinci Code, Meeting Mozart is ‘Deftly plotted and richly detailed…the novel spans generations and involves Mozart, mysteries, masquerades, opera, spies, and much more.’ Available at: https://www.amazon.com/Meeting-Mozart-Secret-Diaries-Lorenzo-ebook/dp/B08PW426LK/ref=sr_1_1?dchild=1&keywords=meeting+mozart&qid=1607971282&sr=8-1

'From My Readers'
Staged for Murder from New York

Speaking of Staged for Murder, my opera aficionado colleague in New York, Sophia Cerovsek, just finished reading the book and had this to say: ‘It was great! Except…Too short. Too quickly over. Luckily, I got your other 2 novels too…Loved the Ring quotes. They fit so well what’s happening in the different chapters! Brava!’

Thank you, Sophia! You can buy the ebook of Staged for Murder on Amazon: https://www.amazon.com/dp/B08L748R3C

Closing thought(s)
Each month I seem to find more wisdom than I know what to do with :-) All the more gratifying to be able to share some of it, both for writers and for non- writers, with you. Comments from yours truly included :-)

No doubt we are all looking forward to a much better 2021. Though there are mountains of work to scale, I for one am trying to think positive: that we will put the negativity behind us—while still being aware of it—and be able to move ever ahead to accomplish that of which we are capable.

Stay safe. Stay well. And see you next year.

Until next time.

Best regards,

Erica Miner
